AAA Insurance Company was formed in 1998 by the California State Automobile Association Inter-Insurance Bureau. The Bureau was organized by the AAA club headquartered in San Francisco, California, and offers auto and homeowners insurance to AAA members. The Bureau has been in business for more than 90 years and is one of the largest insurance carriers in California. AAA was created to provide auto and homeowners insurance for AAA members living in states outside of California. More recently, AAA has begun offering specialized coverages in California and elsewhere such as insurance for rental properties and motorcycle insurance. AAA is rated “A+” Superior by the A.M. Best Company, the oldest and most widely respected independent rating organization for insurance companies.
